I like the feeling this creates, and as Stevester pointed out I also like the composition. Where are the leg shadows? Add the shadows to ground the dog. Some edge cleanup needed.

I really like the portrait effect created by the strong foreground. Image conforms perfectly with theme and B&W is perfect contrast element for establishing this theme.
