Just wanted to introduce myself and say that this site is incredible. I'm amazed every time I come here.

I'm just starting to develop my PhotoShop skills, and I'm here to learn. I'm a newspaper page designer by trade, so I do a bit of this "professionally" (not to be confused with "competently"). I stumbled upon this site recently while researching a project (desperately seeking a tutorial). I've been visiting daily ever since.

I'd just like to complement you all on your work. There are some really wonderful ideas on display here.

Howdy. That's a beautiful first entry. Too bad you entered it after a lot of people have already used all their votes.

Thanks. I've got a lot going on, so I can only get to PhotoShop a bit at a time ... plus, I spent way too much time on it Wink

Great first chop. Your familiarity with blends is really something to build on.
Marcoballistic uses similar blends, take a look at how he uses them.
Watch out for little things like the graininess of the hand, stuff like that kills an image.
Good Luck.

Hey, guys. Is there a designated spot on this site for critiques of work? I'm interested to know what people thought of my Plant Hood entry. As I said in my first post, I'm really here to learn more than anything else. Any ideas for how I might improve, what areas I should be concentrating on, or how I can create more realistic effects?

I'm willing to put in the work to get better, and I don't expect to be hand-fed PhotoShop knowledge, but I guess I'm just fishing for a little feedback. Thanks.

I'm by no means an expert, so I don't know if I'm the best person to be handing out critiques, but your plant hood one looks very flat to me. It needs a lot of shading work to bring out the depth.

death said some shading.... If I may add.... maybe some stronger reflection under your balls ( sorry couldnt resist).as well the shading will give more of a round look to the balls and the reflection will give it less of a floating look...............and like I said never....NEVER listen to a word I say!!!!
if you dont want a reflection.............. a shadow will work just as well
