OK!!!
Even I am dumbfounded by the actions of our government today.
Now either I am really and truly a total idiot,
and understand NOTHINg or our government just
out of hand decided "HEY! Let's screw with everybody!!"
Now this may, in the scheme of things just be a minor nuissance,
but frankly--people who will screw in little things
will very soon be screwing you in big things--
I.E.__
They just up and decided to extend "Daylight savings time" by four weeks.
I'm no technical genius, and I don't think the population is in general--
so, thank you uncle sam--
my automatically "daylight savings time" resetting settings on my pc, and vcr and microwave--
and probly on everyone elses, the cars clock--
computer run technology --time critical-- components have
all just been summarily sent to screwyville--
in a few weeks my clocks and pc, maybe even my cellphones- are all just gonna
have to be re-set--
I'm probably not gonna be watching the news that weekend that the clocks normally
"fall behind" and will be showing up to work early on monday--maybe on Sunday
I'll be wondering why the heck the doughnut shop is closed--
*Sigh*

hmm, yes. Politics aside, that poses some solid issues for electronic devices of a wide variety, especially computers and thier os.

we have this since the 70ies when oil-prices raised suddenly. it works and it is effective to costs and nature, but people are confused two times a year when all clocks are set +/- one hour. i remember a few years ago when i ordered chinese food at 9.30 in the morning 'cause i forgot that clocks were set one hour ahead ... or backwards ... pfff, sometimes it makes me getting a knot in my brain ...

Wow. That does sound bizarre (About the DST I mean, not whether or not At is in the Canaries... lol)

In the UK they're constantly debating whether to change the DST timing here (1 hour back to match GMT - Greenwich Mean Time - in October, then 1 hour forward for BST - British Summer Time - in March) but they've not done anything as sudden or random as that!

Apparently, Britain was the first nation to adopt a DST scheme in 1909. Now there's a first I'm not so proud of... Confused

Supa, I think what Scion is trying to say is...

Whatever you personal political views are, you are WRONG!!

am I right Scion Laughing

actually...I think its that for however long its been, daylight savings has always lasted from one date to another date. They have now decided to extend it (apparently...I wasnt aware of this) an extra 4 weeks. Most computer devices have "automatic" adjustment for daylight savings but it occurs based on the date. If the date to go back an hour changes, the computers/cell phones/vcr's/TV's/Etc. wont know and will have to be set manually. Thats all.
