This is the reason:

Steven Bradbury was/is a speedskater. In international scale he is not good. He excercises a lot and it is his great hobby!
And then, he finally can represent his country, Australia, in the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City 2002. (....and as you all know, that country isnt well known as a winter nation.)

Bradbury came to the quarterfinale in the Olympic games in speedskating.
Two of the other skaters in the quarterfinale fell so he went to the semifinale.

In the semifinale three of the other skaters fell, soooo he went to the finale.
