Yes, I am trying to buy a not-so-much professional cam (in the range of 1000-1500), that has pretty neat features and is capable to allow me to produce some decent and professional looking HD videos. I was thinking about Sony HDR-SR12. Anyone know of something better? (202?) My main goals are macros, slow-motion (high fps) and integration to premiere cs3. Any suggestions?

I just bought myself that camcorder as well( Sony HDR-SR12).

I got it a few days ago so haven't tested it too much. But I already love it Wink

The reason I desided on that camcorder was all the testes I read on it. It has gotten some very good feedback. I also bought some lenses for it. (fisheye/macro).

Edit: But you can save quite a bit buying the HDR-SR11. The tecnology is identical, but the harddrive is smaller. I needed the big drive, so went for the SR12.

Thanks Pakimo. If ya have the time, try to test the slow motion feature (60fps). I guess I read it somewhere it only works for playback, what would totally suck, hence editing purposes. I really liked the reviews on it though.

slow mo tests on yoochoob

looks good..and looks like you can go further than just double speed recording (half speed playback)

(notice the "&fmt=18" at the end... forces higher quality stream on yooch)

I also like the sound of the sound focusing sync when you zoom

edit....

FInally found some info regarding the "smmoth slow" function (which the official Sony site doesnt even list in the specs!)

Now, the HDR-SR12 can record up to 12 seconds of video in color at 240 fps.

COOL !! 1/8TH SPEED !

Haven't looked much at video cameras in a while but got interested again. Here is a comparison video on three of the Sonys mentioned. Pretty impressive and not sure around the world but in the U.S. was able to find the SR11 for $529.00
