Can anyone tell me the best way to Select/cut out parts of an image that are very fine? Like the picture for the comp on the 25th (Dandy Shedding)

For carps sake people.
The thing blends into the background. Forget
cutting the whole thing out. Cut out the few bits that are not difficult to cut out, then replace the difficult parts from other images found on the Googlinator. That thing CAN'T be extracted or cut out cleanly.

this was a helpful tutorial using the extract tool. It's one of those that when it works it works awesome but may be a problem when the colors are real close but give it a try.

Yup... I really REALLY hate to admit it, but Scion's got a point (and if he wears a hat he can cover it up!! Laughing Laughing Huh.. - sorry Sad )

I know of about 10 or more different ways to "remove the background" in PS. And none of them are going to work completely in this case. The background is fuzzy bits of the forground. If you really really want to do the closest thing to removing the background do what someone has already said and take the best bits you can and then create the fuzzy bits by hand. But overall I'll recommend you just put this particular image down, walk away, find a nice pint o' suds, and move onto the next 29 choices you have to chop from.

reindeer

P.S. do NOT use the pen tool on this particular picture unless you are a serious SERIOUS masochist!!! Shocked

I did realise that there was no way of selecting out the out of focus parts of the picture, it was the bit at the front i was after.
I just wondered if there was an easier way of slecting out objects like this, as i'm still new to alot of the tools available in photoshop.

I have been given some very helpfull tuts from some of you guys on here and i am gratefull for that.

Thanks everyone for all your helpfull replies.

Oh!
And did you here the one about the 2 flies sat on a dog turd.
One of them let rip, and the other said "Do you mind i'm eating"
