I knew a Tracy (guy) early 1980's.... very nice guy. Great moves. that is -- great dancer. I know of one big break I saw him in was a Lionel Richie music video - All Night Long.

The boy's and girl's name Tracy, is of Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "warlike". Ah-ha!

Also possibly a nickname for Theresa -- oh really?!

A piece of irony here - Spencer Tracy was in several films with Katherine Hepburn. But the name Tracy became popular after one of Katherine's characters that she played --Tracy Lord, in the 1940 film "The Philadelphia Story". ok, who here actually remembers when that movie came out, and therefore we don't remember that character.... but most of us have heard of Traci Lords, porn "child" star.

there's also actress Tracey Ullman; tennis player Tracy Austin; singer Tracy Chapman; swimmer Tracy Caulkins. Spencer Tracy, Dick Tracy, Harry Tracy... hmmmm Tracy Adams!

I've only met one other male Tracy in my entire life. And that was back in the 5th grade. I come from a long line of Tracys, both girl and boy, last name, middle name, and first name.

I always thought T-R-A-C-Y was more often used for boys and T-R-A-C-E-Y was the feminine. Every male I've heard of with the name left out the "e". True, some females also leave out the "e" (though I thought most of them used the "e"?), but have you seen any males that used the "e"?

Had E-nuff? Wink

well I have seen guys with names like Marion, Shirley and they were usually very masculine in some ways they were overtly masculine to make up for the name the parents dropped on them.

I read the first two links there and that's some pretty funny stuff. Reminds me of those crazy celebrity names like Apple, Suri, and a bunch more just can't think of those kids names right off the bat now.

I guess it beats getting a number but do these parents ever consider what effect these names have on these kids growing up. Other kids are brutal. But then again if they are all running around with names like New Moon Rising then nobody will pick a fight except with the kids with names like Susan or David. Now those kids will be mocked... Such a funny web site. Thanks for sharing. Very Happy
