Hi, im new to photoshopping. Im trying to use the pen to remove an object by tracing around it, but when ever i add new points, it fills in the selected area with black. How do i use the pen to copy it? It doesn't seem to actually cut out anything, instead it just makes an outline with which i can do nothing. I dont know what to do

Hey! The pen tool is confusing to use at first. I struggled as well, but it's an invaluable tool.

If you're getting a black fill, the pen tool is in "shape layers" mode. Switch it to "paths" mode (there are 3 "buttons" on the top left of your window, under the dropdown menus -- choose the middle one. (I'm sure there's a shortcut to this -- but I don't know the shortcuts well)

Now your path shouldn't be filled with a color. When you have made your path using the pen tool, right click and it'll give you options -- not only to make selections, but to all other kinds of cool and amazing things. Razz

Read Reinman's tut if I confused you further. Smile

Good luck!
