hi people!!! can anyone please help me? wenever i use the smudge tool in cs3 it takes sooo damn long to do the job? does anyone know why this is??
u'll be a lifesaver if u can help! its drivin me nuts! my computers powerful too so dont get why it takes so long to do such a simple task! I looked into preferences/performance available RAM 1697MB!!!!


SYSTEM: intel core 2 quad cpu runnin at 2.40GHZ, MEM(RAM) 3070MB

my mem(RAM) is 3070MB (think dats right!) its a brand new computer! dont know if my settings are right tho! so sorry 2 bother yah but im useless wit computers lol!

No bother I'm sure...

Err...are your smudge tool setting all okay?

Mode = normal, strength - whatever...etc.?

Or maybe it's a large document and just taking time.

Or maybe it's cos Photoshop eats memory so try shutting down any other apps?

Or maybe I just dunno!

main things that slow it down are


having "sample all layers ON"
big soft edge brushes
large image size

Under Prefs/Performance, I set mine just below the minimum recommended and mine started working better/faster.

My ideal range since I only have 2 gigs or ram was 871-1140

I set mine to 791, history state at 20 and cache level at 4.

Opens faster, closes faster and returns liqifiy and vanishing point results faster.

A very large image size will slow, big brushes will slow it down, and multiple layers on will slow it down, I just had the same problem with a chop I was making.

Work without bridge on it takes tons of space and slows the handicapped pcs down.
